The Tiny Pumpkin Patch

From the point of view that we grew pumpkins, I would call our pumpkin planting a success.  Unfortunately the pumpkins took over the garden so we didn't have much of anything else.  What is funny is that in addition to the three pumpkins we grew, we also had one pie pumpkin come up from the compost as well as a butternut squash.  I will have to cook something with each of those.  The biggest miracle is that it is just about time to pick the pumpkins and they are all orange, pretty big, and blemish and squirrel-bite free.  I don't recall the timing but I think we planted them, according to the package, with one week to spare from the time of planting to the time of picking.

Congrats on the pumpkins.

I saw a giant one at the urban farm at the Cook County Jail that makes me want to acquire an empty lot and just grow giant pumpkins for the hell of it.
