The saga of the living room light comes to an end

See, the light looks great.  It's perfect for the room and the mottled finish really doesn't bother me at all.

There's only one small problem.

In order to hold the bowl shade in place, I have to use rubber bands.  My previous idea of using some wire doesn't work because the rim of the bowl gets in the way.

It's not that I don't think that the blue rubber rings that hold my broccoli together are aesthetically pleasing.  They just might not be the right thing for this particular room.

I think I am going to have to chalk this one up to a learning experience and move on.

So, where can I get an inexpensive fixture to hang my bowl from???

Thanks. We got our other light there and I am thinking that this is where we'll end up for the bowl-shade fixture too.

You might shoot off an email & photos to this place in Mpls http://www.lightworkslighting.com They have fabricators on staff that store vintage lights. I've found them to be really helpful. Worth a shot. I really like that light.

If the other suggestions don't work out, perhaps you could find steel wire in a color/finish that would be relatively invisible in place of the rubber bands. Just a thought...

Except for the rubber bands, this combination is beautiful!

I broke down and purchased new light fitting/hooks from Antique Lamp Supply. I will lose the detail of these hooks but at least the thing will work and hang properly. I am still excited about it and will blog once I get the hooks and have it all re-assembled.
