These Things are the First Things to Go

I spent the beginning of the first day at the new house documenting the current condition. It might be nice to look back and see how things have progressed. For a relatively small house, I am immediately overwhelmed.

In it's current condition, the house is fine to live in but upon closer examination, there are so many things that really need to go. From oddly colored rooms, old carpeting, borders and wallpaper, strange lighting fixtures and all of the other things that make this place un-bungalow-like (if there is such a word). All of this and I haven't even started to document everything that needs to be fixed.

First things first. I intend on tackling basement demolition, carpet removal and yew eradication over the next couple days.

Welcome to OP! We tackled a basement remodelling last summer to create a living area while we turn our attic into livable space, and while it took nearly 8 months (about 4 longer than we anticipated), it was well worth it!

Thanks for the welcome Jay - perhaps we'll meet at some point and commiserate about the building department in the OP.
