A Change of Seasons

I figured I would create a new post so, at the very least, folks don't stumble onto the site and are greeted by Christmas decorations. Spring has hit the Tiny Bungalow but it sure doesn't look a springy as it did last year at this time. The daffodils are in full bloom and stuff is peaking up out of the ground but otherwise, there is not a lot of activity. Hopefully that will change in the next couple of weeks

I love working in the yard this time of year.  I don't know if it is the smells in the air, the cool weather or just the dark look of all of the dried plants.  Unfortunately, I have been preoccupied with work on the inside so I haven't done my ritual fall "plant moving".  Most of the plants have died and gone to seed but the pansies that I put in about a month ago give a nice splash of color to the garden.  

I purchased a bunch of bulbs last month.  I used to live on a brick-paved street near the University in Buffalo where most of the yards were covered with crocuses in the spring.  It was always a dramatic sight and I always thought it would be a cool thing to try and do the same thing at my home some day.  I about 150 crocus and squill bulbs scattered around the lawn this morning.  We'll see if we have any success with anything growing come spring.

I also put in about 40 cloves of garlic in the garden.  It never seems like we plant enough but unless I was going to give the garden completely over to garlic, which isn't the worst idea in the world, I will have to make due with the limited number of heads we get each year.
